We thought we had a forever home when we were adopted, but things didn't work out. It turns out our adopter saw us when we were sleeping and relaxed and didn't expect the energy and rambunctious nature of the two of us. So we came back to The Cat Cafe and we're hopeful that we will find a home where that's wanted.

We like playing with all of the toys here, but our favorite toy is each other. Sometimes, visitors think we're fighting and actually mad at each other, but we're not. We're just having fun.

I was found without my mother and went to a foster home with The Rescue House to get the care I needed in order to grow up to become a healthy and happy cat. And am I ever. My sister Rye and I were found outside without our mom as kittens. This isn't a good situation for cats like us, and it often means that we're going to end up getting eating by predators or not getting enough food. I take a while to get use to new spaces, but even then, I'm interacting with friendly people and I might even purr for people I just met. And when I do get used to the space, I like to follow my people around.

I was born to a mother named mouse, so all of her kittens got names of rodents. This seems a little strange to me, since we felines consider most rodents prey, but here we are.

I suppose it's fitting that I like to chase around toy mice. Maybe it reminds me of playing with my mom. Or maybe it's just a way for me to expend my energy. We lived outside and weren't doing well when we were taken in by kind people. Our people don't know if we're brothers, but if we're not, we may as well be. Someone took us to a shelter when we were so young that we couldn't eat on our own. We were scheduled to be euthanized because the shelter didn't have the around the clock staff to care for us when we went to a foster home with The Rescue House. There, we got the around the clock bottle feeding we needed. And once we got a chance to thrive, we blossomed into the playful and fun pair that we are.

My mom Ruby Ann was found outside carrying me and my siblings. She came inside to give birth to us, and since that was around Easter, all of the kittens got Easter themed names. Mine is because I like to peep out of beds and caves and because I'm sweet like the candy.

Because my mother lived outside, she likes to kind of find a quiet place to observe things from. But I'm the total opposite. I'm out and about, looking for places to explore and to find friends. And I'm good at it.

Hi there. I'm Alexander. I was living in a home where there were too many cats, and none of us were getting fixed. As you can guess, that meant the population of us felines exploded. As the people in the cat room like to say, without the cats being fixed, the 12 cats in the cat room would quickly become 20.

Fortunately for us, The Rescue House was able to come in and take care of things. All of us got the care we needed in order to get a chance to thrive, and that includes getting fixed.

If you're looking for a cat who likes to talk, I'm your boy. That's right. I'm a boy even though I have a name that sure sounds like a girl's name. I demand pets from people who come in to interact with us cats. And when I'm not doing that, you can get me to play by using a wand toy like the people in the cat room tell you.

Another thing I like? My sister Smudge. She and I like to snuggle together and hang out with each other when we're not playing. And sometimes, our favorite toy is each other.

We were found outside with our umbilical cords still attached. When our mother couldn't be found, the people who found us got us the care we needed to thrive. And since we were found around St. Patrick's Day, we got Irish themed names.

As you can see from our photo, we love to snuggle with each other. When we want to relax, we'll groom each other to make sure all of those hard to reach places are nice and clean.

But while we love hanging out with each other, that doesn't mean we won't show affection to people we like. Be careful. We may try to climb onto your shoulder, even if your hands are full of things.

I'm Pop. You met my two siblings, Snap and Crackle, last week. I'm the leader of the group and you'll often find me initiating a play session by chasing one or both of my siblings to get us running around. But don't worry, I'm happy to enjoy myself with humans as well, especially when they tempt me with a wand toy.

I would love to go home with both of my siblings, but we know that might not be possible. Make sure there's another active and playful cat in the home, though.

We're Snap, Crackle, and Pop. And the cereal with that slogan is known for making days good ones, so it's fitting for us. We didn't take much time to start interacting with the staff here. Snap and Crackle, pictured here, decided to pose for the camera right after we arrived. Pop took a little longer to say hello.

My mother lost her home when she was pregnant with me and my siblings, Gopher and Mara. She went to a foster home where she gave birth to us and raised us. When we became ready to be on our own, all three of us came to Cat & Craft. I'm the most outgoing and sociable of the three. I was exploring and finding fun things almost immediately after arriving.

I would love to go home with my siblings, but if that can't happen, then I need to go to a home with another playful and active cat.

I was found along with my sister in a rural area as newborns with our umbilical cords still attached. Our mother was nowhere to be found, which meant we needed help if we were going to survive. Fortunately, The Rescue House was able to get us to a home where were bottle fed, weaned and given a chance to thrive.

We're cautious because of our start to life, but when we trust someone, we like to relax around them and lean in for pets. Sometimes, if we're in the mood, we'll play with toys. And we love each other and want to go to a home together.

We had an unlucky start to our lives, but with your help, we can write a happy ending to it.

We were found outside in Anaheim with another sibling. The Rescue House took all of us in, and soon our sibling found a home. It didn't take long for us to get used to this space and when we did, our personality started to shine. We're affectionate and like to interact with people. The wand toys, when we're not relaxing, get us running around and showing off our hunting skill.

But we like to relax, and when we do, we're often snuggling together. That's why it would be best if the two of us went home together. How much fun would it be to have this cat pile going on in your home?

I thought I was all set when I came from a hoarding situation skinny and sick, went to The Rescue House and got adopted. Things were good for a while but my person's living situation changed and I couldn't go along. That's when I went back to The Rescue House and then came here.

I might be a little older than a lot of the cats here, but I'm friendly and outgoing. And I like showing people who I like my silly side, as you can tell by my picture.

You might think that Zero is a strange name for a cat. And it is. But that's okay. I will respond to it with cute meows if you say it to me. It keeps people from getting me confused with other cats.

After living outside and having problems giving birth to a litter, I went to get cared for by people. Unfortunately, none of my kittens made it. But I did, and because I'm so grateful to the people who helped me, I love being around you two legged creatures. I will call out to you if I notice you're around and I've gotten to know you. Soon, I'll follow you around and ask for you to brush my unusual coat.

Seven Kittens is Enough for Nori

Can you imagine living outside and raising seven kittens in seven months? That's what I had to do before I went to a foster home for The Rescue House. They got me to the doctor so that I wouldn't be able to have any more kittens because I'm sure you agree that seven is enough!

Now that my kitten raising days are over, I'm enjoying my time by myself. I love to hang out close to but just out of reach of my people. When I'm in the mood, I'll let you pet me and I'll reward you with purrs.

It won't surprise you that I'm cautious when it comes to making friends, but take the time and I'll reward you with purrs.

My life almost ended before it got a chance to start. I was on the euthanasia list at a shelter when The Rescue House swooped in to save me. I'm so grateful they did and I show that to everyone with my enthusiasm and playful personality.

When I say playful, I mean it. I will turn down food for the opportunity to play. Don't get me wrong, I love my food but playing is more enjoyable. And when it's time to relax, I'll find a place to sleep by my people.

Finn Says His Extra Toes Make Him McCool

Even though my extra toes made it easier for me to catch prey and fend off predators, living outside isn't a good way for a cat like me. The Rescue House took me in, got me to a foster home, and gave me the care I needed. Then I came here to show everyone how cool my extra toes look.

You might think that I would be a rambunctious cat with those, but I'm much more calm. I like spending time in people's laps when I get to know them. Don't get me wrong, I do play, but I'm mostly content to just spend time close to my people.

Gracie Can't See But Her Heart is Full of Love

Sometimes, despite the best efforts of our mothers, we don't come out of the womb fully healthy. That's what happened to me. I was born with really small eyes and they quickly got infected, so the doctors removed them to give me a chance to thrive. You might think that not being able to see would make me cautious and shy.

As you can see from the picture, that's not true. I spent a lot of time supervising the people who work here. I make sure they did their jobs correctly. And you'll be surprised at how well I can track down a crinkle ball without seeing.

I have a name that I'm sure you've never heard before. Peanut Butter Van Gogh is too long, so they call me Peebs. I got the Van Gogh part of my name because of my uniquely shaped ears. That came about because of my time living outside. You'll have to monitor those more carefully than for most cats if you take me home. But I think they give me character.

My siblings and I were found by the property manager who a foster for The Rescue House rents from. They knew exactly what to do when they saw how adventurous we are. As you can tell, I'm a handsome boy who looks good in black, so my name is fitting. It's especially fitting because I was the quiet protector of my siblings.

Turkey Joins the Clowder at a Second Cat Cafe

I was at The Cat Cafe in downtown San Diego for a long time, but the stigma of black cats somehow kept me from getting adopted despite my playful purrsonality. One of the things that became a concern was my tendency to get paws and mouth on. The Rescue House decided to give me a break in a foster home. Once I stopped doing this, I joined the clowder at Cat & Craft.

As you can imagine, I'm used to the comings and goings of a cat cafe, so I won't be shy with people who want to come and interact with me. I like to attack wand toys, and have been known to drag one into a cave so I can "kill" it. When I'm not active, I enjoy stretching out in the window to enjoy the sun.

A person on vacation in Hawaii found me and brought me from the islands to San Diego. I needed some medical attention and they gave that to me. When I recovered, they wanted to find me a home so they turned to The Rescue House and after time in a foster home, I arrived here.

You'll see a lot of the other cats running around and chasing toys. That's not me. I'm happy to observe and relax. But you can approach me when I'm doing that, and give me pets. Do it right and I may start to purr for you.

1. They’re Natural Predators

Even the fluffiest house cat shares ancestry with wild hunters. In the wild, big cats like lions and leopards conserve energy by sleeping for long stretches between hunts. Domestic cats have inherited the same instinct: to sleep often and deeply, so they’re ready to pounce when needed.

2. They’re Crepuscular Creatures

Unlike humans, cats are not strictly diurnal (awake during the day) or nocturnal (awake at night). Cats are crepuscular , which means they’re most active at dawn and dusk. That leaves plenty of hours in between for rest, often totaling 12–16 hours of sleep per day , with kittens and senior cats sleeping even more.

My life outside was a difficult one, especially since I developed a condition called stomatitis. This causes my teeth to deteriorate and it's painful. I kept this to myself until I went to a foster home for The Rescue House. Then when I went to the doctor, they discovered my condition. I needed to have all of my teeth removed. But that doesn't bother me as much as dealing with the pain they caused me.

I'm a mellow and calm cat, who enjoys watching the world go by from perches above the ground. I'll play from time to time, but relaxing and observing everything that's happening around me is my favorite thing to do.

Cat Lounge Reopens This Weekend

We're pleased to share the good news that we're reopening the cat lounge again this weekend. Our staff and volunteers were hard at work making sure that everything was cleaned this week due to the health issue some of our cats had. That hard work paid off and we've been bringing in cats over the past few days.

Because all of the cats are new to the space, we'll be limiting reservations to no more than eight for the weekend. We hope, as time goes on and more cats arrive, to go back to our normal limit of 12 starting next Tuesday.

Thanks for your patience as we worked through this. We look forward to welcoming you back into the cat lounge!

Are you looking for a cat who likes to just relax and sit in the sun? Sometimes, I do that. But generally, I'm finding something to chase and play with. Usually that's a wand toy, but sometimes, it's a crinkle ball. And if I can't find one of those, a shoelace will do.

You'd think a cat who came from a situation where there were too many cats in a colony would be more shy, but that's not me. I like spending time with people, whether I have known them for a while or just met them.

See how my front left leg is blurred in this picture because I'm moving it? That's fitting for me because I like to move around, check things out and play. You might think I grew up in an environment that allowed me to thrive, but sadly, that was not the case. I was living in a hoarding situation before The Rescue House was able to take me in.

Since I didn't get a lot of attention initially, I LOVE interaction with people. And I'm used to other cats as well because I spent a lot of time with them.

My siblings and I found ourselves in a box outside of a store, and we decided that the only way we would survive is if we stuck together. The people in the store were kind and they got us to The Rescue House. After spending time in a foster home, I came here when my siblings got adopted.

You'd think I would be wary of people because of what happened to me, but I'm not. And I also enjoy spending time with playful felines, so the best home for me would be one with another one in it.

Dean Winchester Is Looking for a Wrestling Buddy

I spent my days outside of the dean's quarters on a college campus and I was doing well. One of the students thought that I would do better if I had a home to call my own, and that's how I ended up with The Rescue House.

I like people and other cats, and I enjoy playing with them.

Some cats don't like how rambunctious my wrestling moves get, though. So I'll need to go to a home with a cat who does enjoy this. If that's your home, you won't have to watch Raw anymore. The wrestling moves I'll show off are as good as anything you'll see there.

We were found outside by someone who has a volunteer for The Rescue House on staff. They knew who to turn to immediately, and we quickly got inside to get the care and attention we needed to thrive.

Panther Joins The Clowder at Cat & Craft

I had a home of my own for many years but then my human decided to move to London. I was spared the long trip overseas even though a life of enjoying scones and tea sounds good. But I did move from home to home after my human went overseas. For various reasons, I wasn't able to stay in those homes, so I went to a foster home.

Now I'm here and I'm enjoying my time here relaxing, sitting near and on people I like and watching the world go by outside. I like it, but what I really want is a home where I can stay for the rest of my days.

As an older cat and a black cat, people sometimes overlook me. I'm sure there's someone who won't that will decide I'm the right cat to join their home. Is that person you? Come and find out.

I was turned in to a shelter in Imperial County, and spent a long time waiting for someone to come and adopt me. That didn't happen, but when The Rescue House came along and asked if there were cats that they could take in, the staff there told them I should make the trip.

I'm glad I made the trip, because I'm so excited to have the entire cat lounge to roam around in and play. It's so much nicer than the place I lived in before. And when I show you how much I enjoy spending time with people, you may want to give me a home of my own.

I've had a lot of temporary homes in my short life. First was outside in a colony where most of the other cats didn't like me. Then I went to a place where the person cared a lot about me, but they weren't supposed to have me in their home. They thought they found someone else to take care of me, but that didn't work out because there were already too many animals. The next step for me was a shelter, but fortunately, someone got me to The Rescue House.

I'm settling in here and starting to explore. You might find me in a covered area but if I learn to trust you, I'll come out for pets and give you head bonks. And if I really trust you, I'll have a conversation with you.

If you decide that you want to continue that conversation in a home where I won't have to worry about moving again, I'd love that.

San Diego County Cat Cafes Extend Offer to People Displaced by LA Fires

Three San Diego County Cat Cafes, The Cat Café in downtown San Diego, The Cat Lounge Rescue and Adoption Center in La Jolla and Cat & Craft in Vista, will provide discounts to people who have been displaced by the Los Angeles fires.

At all three locations, those showing government identification with addresses in the affected areas will receive a 50 percent discount on weekday walk in admissions. Like all walk in admissions, these will be available on a first come, first served basis subject to space limitations.

“We know that this gesture can’t make up for the stress caused by the fires,”said Tony Wang, General Manager of The Cat Café. “However, petting a cat for a few minutes may help take their minds off of it for a while and help them relax.”

“We know how challenging this time is, and we believe the unconditioned love and companion ship of a cat can provide comfort and healing. This initiative is our way of standing with our community in a time of need,” said Renee Shamloo, Executive Director of The Cat Lounge Rescue and Adoption Center.

Delaney Davis, Assistant General Manager of Cat & Craft, added, “Our hearts go out to LA and all the families that have lost their homes due to the fires. Our doors are open to provide them some peace amidst all the chaos. We hope our staff and foster kitties can be a bright spot during these difficult times.”

I was found with my siblings behind some rocks in a marina located in National City. It was clear we had been abandoned there, because our mother was nowhere to be found. My life story will probably make you sad, but I'm looking for the happy ending, which will be when I go home for good. I started out living on the street, and suffered an injury to my leg during my time there.

Eventually, it got bad enough that the doctors decided I'd be better off without it. I recovered from that, and the foster who kept me during my recovery wanted to keep me. The cats already in the home had other ideas.

I'm friendly and love to snuggle up against people I know and like. And when you get me going with a wand toy, you will be amazed at how well I get around with only three legs. I'm faster than a lot of the cats with all four.

Long Term Resident Penelope to Be Adopted

Penelope has spent more than a year in two different cat cafes. The staff at both of these places loved having her around, and felt bad that she went without a home for so long. This is because Penelope, while a loving and fun cat, had some quirks that kept people from adopting her. She loves to play bite and she also enjoys attacking the foot monster, although she only does that when people have full shoes on.

But after spending so much time without a home to call her own, Penelope is being adopted!

It's always difficult to get older cats adopted. Kisuke is no exception. She's 15 years old and has been through a lot in her life, which made it more challenging. I was looking for food and went to the right clowder of community cats. One of the people who takes care of the cats also fosters for The Rescue House and when they saw how friendly I am, they decided I needed to find a home inside.

Meet Felix

Hello, I'm Felix. I'm a small guy, but I've got all the purrsonality you could ever want. I was born with my best friend Rocco and two other cats in a foster home with The Rescue House. This means that I've grown up with people and know all about you two legged creatures.

I may be small, but if there's food to be had, I'm quick to get it and I'll let other cats, including Rocco, know that it's mine to eat. Once my stomach is full, I love to play with wand toys and if you're playing with another cat, they may soon have company.

Meet macintosh!

Hi, I'm Macintosh. I was doing okay living outside because I got help from friendly people. One day, though, I got attacked by a coyote. I survived the attack, but that's when the people who were helping me decided that I needed to go inside. They contacted The Rescue House, and I found my way to a foster home. After enjoying my time there and demanding attention from the foster all the time, I came here.

Not surprisingly, you'll find me wandering through the cat lounge looking for people to interact with. And if you and another cat are playing with a toy, you may find me asking to join.

I was found outside with a litter of kittens and I was having a hard time taking care of them and myself. Someone told The Rescue House about me, and soon I found my way to a foster home. There, I gave my kittens all the attention they needed to thrive. After doing that, I went to another cat cafe where I spent about a year. Everyone loved me, but when I didn't find a home, I moved here.

I'm an independent cat who's happy to sit quietly and observe things, but when I want your attention, you'll know for sure. I like to chase around wand toys but you'll have to be careful not to get me too excited. When I get that way, I sometimes nip or swat. This means I won't be a good fit in a home with small children or elderly adults. Come by and see if you're the one to give me a forever home.

Hi, I'm Scooter.

I'm a playful and funny cat who enjoys making people laugh, even when I'm sleeping. If you want to see a cat sleeping in positions that you think can't be comfortable, I'm your guy! When I'm not sleeping, I enjoy playing, especially with my best friend Sadie. I'm bonded to her and can't be separated, so you have to take us both.

One thing you need to know about me is that I do like to play with hands, so I'm probably not the best cat for homes with elderly or very young humans. But if that's not your home and you've got room for two cats, come visit me and see if I'm the one for you.

Meet our new arrival, Jason

My mom was pregnant with me when she went into the bathroom of a home where one of the people there didn't want us around. A dog rescue found out about her plight, and got The Rescue House to pull her from there. When she got into a foster home, she gave birth to a happy litter of kittens, which included me.

Like my mom, I'm not one to seek out attention, but if you do come to me, I'm happy to reward you with head bonks, purrs and happy meows. And I'll play when you're around, but if you're not in the mood that's okay. I'll sit by you and relax until you're ready.

John Wayne Says Howdy, Pardner

Welcome John Wayne!

Like the movie actor, I wandered over to say howdy to visitors in the colony that I was living in. Initially, the people who took care of us wanted to have me neutered and then returned to my compadres. But, when they learned I had stomatitis and would need to have all of my teeth removed, they decided to bring me inside and find me a home.

When you visit me, you’ll find me moseying on over to say hello to you. Give me a minute to make sure you’re a friendly visitor, and I’ll relax and let you pet me.

I’m not the first one to play, but if you work at it, you’ll find that my shooting skills are still top

notch as I take down the toy we’re focused on.

This is the second time The Rescue House has helped me out. I first was taken in when I was a kitten and got adopted. I thought I had a home, but the family who adopted me split up and I didn’t like the new living situation. That’s when I came back to The Rescue House and then I joined the clowder here. I’m a talkative girl, so make sure you’ve got things to say to me if you’re interested in getting my

attention. Another thing I like is toys. Sometimes, I don’t want to give them back. I can get startled by loud noises, but I’ll quickly get over it and be wanting to interact with you again.

Meet Chandler!

A kind man found me and two other cats living in a garage. While we were safe from the elements, he knew that wasn’t a good place for us. He talked to a friend with The Rescue House, and soon we were on our way to a foster home. I had a bad cold and needed medicine to recover from that. But now that I’m healthy, I’m here looking for a home.

Whoever takes me home needs to be ready for a cat who loves to play. I enjoy wrestling with other felines. Despite my small size, I’m capable of taking down bigger companions. However, I really don’t like four legged companions of the canine variety. And two legged companions? They’re a lot of fun. I’ll walk right up to them to introduce myself to them. Come and meet me, and you might decide that I’m the cat you want to greet visitors in your home.

Playful Delaney is Seeking Friends in the Cat Lounge

Meet Delaney

A gardener found me relaxing under a car where he works. He thought I was fun so he took me home, but the property manager told him he needed to find a new place for me. After The Rescue House took me in and put me into a foster home, they decided that I’d do well here. And did I ever.

See my cute photo? It was really hard to get that because I like playing so much. Sure, I sleep a lot, just like every other cat. But when I’m awake, I’m usually moving. I love to play and while I’m not aggressive with other cats, sometimes I play more than they want to.

Speaking of other cats, I need to go to a home with one who likes to play as much as I do. They also have to be able to tell me when I’m going too far. You see, since I grew up by myself, I didn’t get to learn how to play with other cats. I’ll learn, but it’s something new for me.

Say Hello to Buster

A kind person who feeds cats noticed that Buster was getting into fights with other cats and showing up worse for wear. They saw that Buster was a gentle giant and wanted to get him into a place where he could thrive without having to defend himself from aggressive cats. That’s when he entered The Rescue House foster system. After seeing how calm and mellow Buster acts inside, his foster agreed to move him here.

Now that Buster feels comfortable in the cat lounge, you’ll find him relaxing on a couch or shelf. He’s happy to let you come up to him and pet his head, and he loves having under his chin scratched. Playtime is fun time for this big boy, but be careful. He’s strong enough to pull wand toys out of your hand if you’re not careful.

His time fending for himself resulted in Buster getting FIV. Don’t worry, though. Cats with this disease can live long and healthy lives and it’s not something that’s transmitted to cats in home, shelter or foster situations.

Come on in and meet Buster and you might just want to take him home.

Senior Cat Kisuke Arrives at Cat & Craft

Meet Senior Cat Kisuk!

Kisuke is a calm and mellow 14 year old brown tabby who’s been through a lot in her senior years. First, during the pandemic, the people who had her from her birth had to give her up because they lost the ability to care for her. She was adopted into another home, and thought that would be where she enjoyed the rest of her golden years. Unfortunately, health problems there forced her person to give her up once again.

As you can imagine, Kisuke is understandably confused about her current turn of events. She’s settled into her spot in the cat room and accepts pets, but she’s also content to be left alone. As a senior cat, energetic young children are not her thing.

Kisuke is independent and loves to do her own thing. Like all cats, she enjoys affection on her terms. But as an older lady who’s not afraid to speak her mind, she’s more demonstrative about telling people when she’s had enough.

If you’re willing to give this senior lady a home for the rest of her days, come on by and meet Kitsuke.

Fuzzball Joins the Cat & Craft Clowder

Welcome fuzzball!

A caring individual saw a mother and her four kittens and started helping the mother feed them. The family stopped showing up for feedings. Worried that the cats had become meals for predators, this person scooped up Fuzzball and called The Rescue House for help.

Fuzzball was grateful for the help, and he talked to his people about it a lot. In the clowder, he’s kind of a hidden gem because he doesn’t like the spotlight. Give him a chance to get to know you, though, and he’ll start to talk to you as well.

If you’re looking for a lap cat, Fuzzball isn’t your guy. He prefers to have a little space to himself, probably from his time living alone outside. He will occasionally put his paws on people he trusts, making little kneading actions.

Fuzzball doesn’t mind being around other cats, but he does like to be the boss. He’d be fine as an only cat or as a cat in a home with other cats who respect his need for space. Come on by and meet this fluffy boy for yourself.

Welcome Mr. Rogers to the Cat & Craft Neighborhood

Mr. Rogers was living outside and doing a good job of keeping himself out of trouble. He was loved by everyone in the neighborhood but people knew he’d be safer inside. They contacted The Rescue House. Then he went to a foster home and joined the clowder at Cat & Craft.

Mr. Rogers, like his namesake, loves to talk to people to tell them about how it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood. When he’s in the mood, he enjoys chasing wand toys around. Other cats are welcome to join in the play. And when it’s time for a break, Mr. Rogers enjoys curling up in a spot by the window to enjoy the warm sunshine.

Meet Nikita and Niko at cat & Craft

Nikita and Niko had a rough start to their lives. They were picked up in a trap, neuter and return operation. The initial plan was to return them to the colony but coyotes roaming in the area change those plans.

These two kittens soon found themselves in the home of a temporary guardian These two kittens soon found themselves in the home of a temporary guardian before making their way to a foster home for The Rescue House. They learned that the large two legged creatures that were in the home were friendly and helpful. Now, they’re enjoying visitors while they look for their permanent home.

Nikita started off reserved, but she blossomed in foster. She doesn’t like to be held, but if you’ve got a toy or want to pet her, she’s happy to interact with you. Get her going and she’ll entertain you until either you or her gets tired, and then she’s happy to flop down next to you to relax.

If you’re looking for a cat that likes to be up high, Niko is your boy. It takes time for him to warm up to new people, but when Niko trusts you he’ll stroll over with his tail in the air and rub up against your leg. And then when you break out the wand toys, Niko will gladly show you just how high he can jump. After that, he’ll sit on your lap waiting for pets and reward you with purrs

Nikita and Niko would like to stay together since they’ve lived their entire life with each other. If they must be split up, we would be sad but would consider it if there is another active cat in the home who enjoys other felines.

3 New Best Friends

If you’re in search of a new best friend, be sure to stop by the Cat Cafe! This week, we’re featuring three beautiful contestants eager to claim the coveted position of furever in your home and heart!

First up we have Gobi and Poki , a delightful pair of black short-haired brother kittens born around March 27, 2023.

Their mother, their two siblings, and themselves were rescued by a kind lady living in a trailer at a horse ranch near Valley Center. The lady welcomed the family inside and surrendered them to the Rescue House.

Their mom and sibling have been adopted, and now it’s their turn! They’ve gained much confidence while in foster care. They’re bundles of energy and joy. Playful, curious and rambunctious, these boys love to explore every nook and cranny, even under their foster mom’s feet! They love helping with chores, too, such as wrestling with the broom or conquering the vaccuum.

Gobi and Poki get along well with other cats. Ideally, they would be adopted together, or each into the home of another kitten-friendly cat. They get along great with children of all ages. Their feelings about dogs are unknown.

Our third contestant is the hopeful Maleficent !

She’s a beautiful little short-haired black, gray, and peach colored torbie born around June 1, 2022. Her mother was struggling to survive as a single mom of five kittens until a kind human took the cat family in, found new homes for three of the kittens and sent Maleficent, her remaining sister, and their mom to the Rescue House.

The sister has found her new home and Maleficent can’t wait to find hers! She’s full of charm, fun, and love. She will allow being held for short moments. She loves being petted and sitting right next to you. One way to her heart is through Churu treats! She’s a play-obsessed girl. If she spots a wand toy, don’t even try to hold her back!

Although she enjoys playing, she also enjoys her downtime. Therefore, she would do better in a house with older children.

A house with a welcoming kitty friend would be delightful for this social girl! She’s nervous around the dogs in her foster home; she might be able to adjust to a smaller, calmer dog.

We certainly hope you’ll consider taking one or more of these sweet. lovable fur babies into your home and heart for life! Please help us help the Rescue House continue this good work for the cats in need in this community. Together, we can save lives and help others live the best lives possible!

Adoption Updates and My Goodness… It’s September Already!

I’m normally not a fan of the year flying by, but given I wanted to return 2020 to sender all the way back in March, I’m happy to help shuffle it out the door as quickly as possible.

If you haven’t visited us lately, I have great news – as of last week we’ve been able to return to indoor food service and consumption!

Our capacities are still a bit limited, but at least you can now enjoy Cat & Craft as it was intended to be enjoyed – kitty snuggles with a side of yummy food and beverage!

Who knows what lies ahead so if you’ve been thinking about visiting, come on in soon!
